LeT terrorist killed in J&K’s Anantnag

Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed during an attack at a police picket in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.

The neutralised terrorists had joined LeT only three months back

According to a police official, an unidentified number of terrorists attacked a police post in Achabal area on Friday night following which there was a brief gunfight on Saturday morning in which a LeT terrorists was killed.

“In this brief encounter, a soldier was injured and was shifted to Army hospital where he is undergoing treatment,” said the police official.

He said that the slain terrorist was identified as Bilal Ahmad – a resident of Tantraypora Yaripora of the neighbouring Kulgam district.

The neutralised terrorists had joined LeT only three months back and during that brief period, he involved in a number of terror attacks on the security forces and civilian atrocities in the area.

Arms and ammunition was recovered from the neutralised terrorist, said the police official.

Meanwhile, later in the day, terrorists killed a student in Hazratbal area of Srinagar city.

Terrorists fired at Ishfaq Ahmad, a student of Islamic University, in Hazratbal area of the city this evening, said a police official.

“The area has been cordoned off for searches to trace the assassins,” the official said.

Apart from this incident, terrorists killed an activist of separatist Hurriyat group led by Syed Ali Geelani in Bomai area of Sopore town.

The activist, Hakim-ul-Rehman Sultani was recently released from jail.
