Srinagar: Security forces on Sunday succeeded in killing a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in North Kashmir’s Handwara town of Kupwara district after a brief encounter.

He said that the encounter broke out around 5 am when security forces of 9 Para Army SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police were intensifying cordon Anawan village of Hajin in Kupwara district.
A grenade, rifle and Pakistani currency have been recovered from the slain terrorist, added the police official.
He further said that though the encounter has ended, an intensive search operation was continuing in the area to nab or neutralise the remaining two terrorists who managed to escape.
On the other hand, terrorists killed a woman and injured another on Sunday in Tral area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police said the terrorists shot dead a woman, Yasmeena, and injured another, Ruby, in Seer village.
Sources said that terrorists associated with the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit for responsible for the attack.
A search is on for nabbing the terrorists responsible for the killing of the woman, said a police official.
Meanwhile, a group of terrorists ransacked the house of a police officer in south Kahsmir’s Pulwama district.
According to reports, five masked terrorists ransacked the house of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Batagund village of Tral area on Saturday evening.
The inmates of the house including Bhat’s father managed to escape immediately upon the arrival of the terrorists, the said sources.
Later, the security forces arrived at the scene and had been carrying out a search operation in the area.
