Rajkot: Before any harm could be caused out of fear by the villagers for the innocent feline, the authorities were informed and the life of a lion cub was saved.

A senior forest official said that a lioness strayed out of the wild along with her cub in search of a prey. The lioness preyed upon a cow in the village on Friday late night and it lost track of its cub that continued to have its feast on the prey, the lioness returned to the forest, said the forest official.
He said that the cub on realising that the mother was not around, got frightened and wandered into house of Bachibhai Makwana situated in vicinity of the lioness kill.
“Before some harm could be caused to it by the villagers, good sense prevailed on some who informed the forest officials and this four-month-old lion cub in question was rescued by the departmental staff from a house on Saturday morning in Virpur village of Dhari taluka of Amreli,” said the forest official.
On Saturday morning, a team of forest officials reached the village around 6 am and rescued the frightened cub from Makwana’s house.
