Migrant labourer attacker LeT terrorist arrested in J&K’s Sopore

Sopore: What could viewed as a big breakthrough, the security forces on Saturday arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist for sopore town of Kashmir.

He was caught in the morning and was part of the LeT group led by Sajad Hyder

The arrested LeT terrorists identified as Danish Tariq Channa, was nabbed in a joint operation by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 179 Battalion, Indian Army, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“#179Bn #CRPF, @adgpi, and @JmuKmrPolice conducted a joint operation in Sopore, Baramulla, J&K and apprehended 01 LeT terrorist. Arms and ammunition recovered,” CRPF said in a tweet.

A senior police official said that Channa is a local LeT terrorist and is a resident of Stadium Colony Old Town in Baramulla.

He was caught in the morning and was part of the LeT group led by Sajad Hyder.

Sources said that Channa was involved in several terror-related incidents, including firing at migrant labourers, shooting and injuring four members of a fruit merchant’s family in Sopore, burning civilian vehicles for not following terrorist dictate not to ply private vehicles on road, issuing threats to fruit traders, putting posters warning traders not to open shops.

The arrested LeT terrorist was also tasked to carry out grenade attacks in the busy markets and other establishments and with his arrest the security forces also averted several other terror attacks planned in Sopore town.

From the place where the LeT terrorists was arrested, the security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, said a police official.

After being arrested by the security forces, Channa was subjected to intense grilling by the security forces, said sources.
