Now Sharad Pawar breaks silence on PM’s degree row, says it is a non-issue

Nashik: With the Opposition continuing attacks on the Indian PM, a leader in the Opposition camp has broken ranks with others. This time Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has spoken over the degree controversy of PM Modi raked up by AAP’s Delhi Chief Minister.

Is the degree a bigger question before the country

This is the second time that Pawar has taken a stand different from other Opposition parties. First time it was on the Hindenburg report on industrialist Gautam Adani when the NCP chief called the report ‘targeted’.

“Is the degree a bigger question before the country. Does your degree (Reporters) or my degree matter? Is this a political issue? The bigger questions are inflation, unemployment, law and order and central government should be targeted on those issues,” said the NCP chief while speaking in Maharashtra’s Nashik.

Today, people are being divided on the basis of religion. In Maharashtra, unseasonal rains have damaged crops. This is what we should discussed” he added.

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister raised controversy by seeking details of PM Modi’s degree. For this, he was fined Rs 25,000 by Gujarat High Court.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has aggressively campaigned against PM Modi’s educational qualification by seeking degree details.

An Right to Information (RTI) request was filed by Arvind Kejriwal in 2016 which sought details of PM Modi’s degree. Then Central Information Commission M Sridhar Acharyulu has asked the Prime Minister’s Office, Gujarat University and Delhi University to share details about PM Modi’s graduation and post-graduation degrees.

Besides challenging the CIC order, the Gujarat University shared details of PM Modi’s degree on its website.
