Srinagar: Security forces on Thursday killed a terrorist following a brief encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to a police official, a checkpost in Dougam village of Kakapora area was set up on Wednesday evening after some inputs about movement of some terrorists was received.
The police official said that as some terrorists tried to pass through the area, an encounter with the security forces started in which on of the terrorists was killed.
Later the slain terrorist was identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat of Awantipora, said the police official.
He said that a search operation was on in the area to nab or neutralise the other terrorists who managed to escape.
