Jammu: Pakistan on Sunday again resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation by indulging in heavy firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Colonel Manish Mehta, Pakistan Army resorted to indiscriminate firing and shelling at Indian positions on the LoC in the Rajouri sector. The Pakistan forces used small arms, automatics and mortars to target Indian positions. “This was not all as the civilian areas were also targeted by the Pakistan forces,” said the defence official.

He said that the unprovoked Pakistan aggression is being responded to by the Indian forces in effective manner.

The firing is presently on in the area, added Col Mehta.

Besides targeting the Indian Army positions at the LoC, the Pakistan forces targeted at the civilian areas as well and at least seven villages were affected.

However, no casualty has been reported and the civilians have been shifted to safer locations, said sources.

Authorities have closed all schools indefinitely in the areas close to the LoC.

It may be mentioned here that this was the third ceasefire violation by the Pakistan forces in the last 24 hours.
