Hoshiarpur: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday took a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. While addressing a public rally in Hoshiarpur, Gandhi said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should not be under anyone’s remote control and should work independently.

The Congress also took a sly dig at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. He said that Punjab should be run from Punjab and not from Delhi. “I would like to say to CM Bhagwant Mann that he’s CM of Punjab & shouldn’t come under the pressure of Delhi & Arvind Kejriwal. He must work independently & should not become someone’s remote control,” Gandhi stated.
Notably, times and again the opposition parties in Punjab have been time alleging that all major decisions of the Mann government are being taken by the Delhi CM. During his Punjab leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi also targetted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre over the issue of unemployment and inflation.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the fifth day in Punjab on Monday. Hundreds of MGNREGA and ASHA workers participated in his Punjab leg of the Yatra. The wife of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, Navjot Kaur, also joined the foot march.
On Monday morning, the foot march began from Jalandhar and passed through Adampur. It reached Hoshiarpur by the end of the day. The foot march was suspended for 30 hours on Saturday due to the death of sitting Jalandhar Lok Sabha MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022. It will end with Gandhi hoisting the national flag in Srinagar on January 30.
