Srinagar: Day-long encounter between the security forces and terrorists in Tral area of Pulwama district of South Kashmir ended with the killing of four Jais-e-Mohammad terrorists on Tuesday evening.

However, in this fierce gunfight, two security personnel including a Rashtriya Rifle jawan and a constable of the JK’s police were also martyred.
J&K’s police chief SP Vaid confirmed that four terrorists, all of them belonging to Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed. Large quantity of arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.
Out of the four slain terrorists, two were Pakistani nationals and the other two were locals, said a police official.
He said that the encounter started when a group of terrorists fired at an Army patrol that had launched a search operation following a tip-off about the presence of some terrorists in the area.
The police official said that the operation was jointly carried out by the the 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the SOG of the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Lam forest area of Tral.
He said that sepoy Ajay Kumar of 42 RR, who was injured in the initial firing exchange, later succumbed to his injuries at Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Badami Bagh Cantonment area here. Apart from martyrdom of the army jawan, constable Latif Gujar of J&K Police also succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
Meanwhile, though the encounter has ended. search and combing operation by the security forces were on in the area.
