Srinagar: Amid growing frustration among the handlers sitting across the border, at least three to four terrorists carried out a suicide attack on a BSF camp located near Srinagar International airport leaving three jawans and a policeman injured on Tuesday.

However, three of the heavily armed terrorists were killed by the security forces in the encounter that followed. “The remaining terrorists, whose exact number is still unknown are holed up in a nearby white building with encounter in its final stages, said an official.
He said that around 4.30 am, a group of terrorists presumably “fidayeen“, attacked the 182 battalion camp of the BSF.
He said that as the terrorists entered the BSF camp’s administrative block, they were immediately surrounded by the security forces and thereafter a fierce encounter followed.
“Body of one of the terrorists has been found with his identity yet to ascertained,” said Director General of Police SP Vaid.
A police official said that the three BSF jawans and a policeman injured in the attack have been shifted to a hospital where an injured BSF ASI succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, airport operations have been suspended as the security forces were engaged with the remaining terrorists holed-up in a nearby building.
Besides that movement towards the airport has also been suspended and all morning flights to and from Srinagar were cancelled with top state police, BSF and Central Reserve Police Force officials having reached the encounter site.
Meanwhile, Pakistan based terror outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility of the attack.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called for a high level security meeting in New Delhi later on Tuesday to discuss the overall security situation.
