Srinagar: Barely hours after two terrorists including top Hizbul commander Altaf Kachroo was killed on Wednesday, terrorists active in the Kashmir valley retaliated by killing four policemen in Shopian district.
According to an officials, the terrorists fired at the escort party of a senior police officer in Arhama village, about 2 km from Shopian town, killing four of them and decamped with three service rifles of the policemen.
The slain policemen have been identified as constables Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, Javed Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Iqbal Mir and SPO Adil Manzoor Bhat.
Some reports have claimed that the senior police officer was not with the escort party which was going for repairs of the vehicle when it came under attack.
Further details were being ascertained, said the official.
