Srinagar: A special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir’s police was ambushed and killed on Tral area of Pulwama district on Wednesday.
According to a senior police official, the SPO Haleem Gujjar was shot dead in front of his residence residence in Gutroo village of Tral area from a point blank range.
He said that the terrorists escaped from the scene after killing the police official.
A manhunt has been launched to nab or neutralised the terrorists responsible for killing of Gujjar, added the police official.
Earlier on Monday, terrorists had gunned down a former sarpanch in Shopian. The sarpanch’s house was set on fire the next day.
Both the killings by the terrorists were carried out on the suspicion of they informing the security forces about the location of terrorists in their respective areas, said sources.
