Srinagar: A massive Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in north Kashmir’s Sopore area has been launched on Tuesday by the Security forces.

According to a senior police official, on receiving specific information about presence of some terrorists, the joint cordon and search operation was jointly on by Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police and the CRPF.
He said that as a precautionary measure, internet services have been suspended in the area. “This has been done in view of recent experiences wherein the trapped terrorists were helped by locals to escape by stone-pelting mob that used to assembly on the call given from the across the border on social messaging platform,” said the police official.
Meanwhile, terrorists hurled grenades on the 180 battalion of a CRPF camp at Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district earlier today, said an official.
He said that the terrorists besides attacking with grenades, also fired at the CRPF camp but were strongly retaliated by alert security personnel.
However, no one was injured in the terrorist attack.
Earlier state police recovered four grenades and two magazines from Baba Demb area of Srinagar city, added the official.
