Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday busted three terrorist hideouts in south Kashmir Pulwama district and arrested four over-ground workers (OGWs) of terror outfits.

A senior police official said that the first hideout was busted in Rajpora area. “From this hideout, we recovered incriminating material, arms and ammunition, besides arresting one OGW,” said the police official.
He said that besides that, two other hideouts were busted in Tahab and Khallen villages and from there one AK series rifle, magazine, one INSAS magazine and an under-barrel grenade launcher was recovered.
The police official said that from the two aforementioned terrorists hideouts, three OGWs working for Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested.
On the other hand, a special police officer (SPO) on Saturday deserted the police force along with an AK-47 rifle as authorities sounded an alert to nab him.
Police said SPO, Showkat Ahmad, deserted the Shopian police station along with an AK-47 rifle.
“He belongs to Herman area of Shopian district. An alert has been sounded to nab him”, police said.
Meanwhile, the state Police has said they were devising a strategy for policemen wanting to visit their families during occasions and emergencies.
Concerned over the targeting of policemen by militants especially in south Kashmir areas, the state police have listed three districts — Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama — as “hypersensitive” with regard to security of the personnel.
“An advisory had already existed that directed policemen not to visit their families on Eid without security and without the knowledge of their police stations,” a senior officer said.
In future, policemen including constables, would be provided security.
“Such visits would be allowed for only two hours and without any disclosure,” the official added.
