Lucknow: It was a sheer delight for the wildlife enthusiasts who on a day after the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Lakhimpur Kheri district of the state reopened, spotted a tigress with her five cubs in the Kishanpur sanctuary of the park.

The Forest Department has closed the route passing through the Kishanpur sanctuary for the next six months to ensure the safety of the cubs. Besides that the patrolling has also been intensified in the area to see that no harm is caused by the visitor to the cubs, said an official.
Tiger-spotting in the Kishanpur range is not uncommon as compared to other forest ranges of the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and this tigress in question had been spotted by tourists earlier too.
It may be mentioned here that the Dudhwa Reserve has 100 tigers out of the total of 173 in Uttar Pradesh, as per the 2019 tiger census.
