Top JeM terrorist killed in J&K’s Tral; Infiltration foiled, two terrorists killed

Srinagar: A top terrorist of Pakistan based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terror outfit was killed on Sunday in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

A senior police official said that the neutralised terrorist identified as Adnan, was a Pakistani.

He said that on receiving information about presence of some terrorists in Tral of Pulwama district, the security forces surrounded Dar Ganie Gund village.

As the security cordon was tightened, the hiding terrorist opened fire triggering an encounter in which the JeM terrorist was neutralised.

The police official said that the house where the terrorist was hiding was also destroyed during the course of encounter.

He said that a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and incriminating material was recovered from the site.

In this encounter a jawan and a civilian were injured and were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the army on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the process killed two infiltrating terrorists.

According to information, the infiltrating terrorists on being challenged by the Army, resorted to indiscriminate firing and in the retaliatory fire, two terrorists were neutralised.

“Though the firing has stopped, search were on in the area,” said defence sources.
