Srinagar: A day after gunning down five infiltrating terrorists from across the LoC in Tangdhar sector of the state, security forces succeeded yet again on Tuesday in killing two terrorists in an encounter in Sopore district of the state.

A senior police official said that the two terrorists were killed in Nowpora village in Tujjar area.
He said that the security forces comprising the Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) started a search operation in Nowpora following a tip off about the presence of some terrorists in the area, early in the morning.
The police official said that as the security cordon tightened, the hiding terrorists resorted to firing at the security forces, triggering a fierce encounter.
As a precautionary measure, authorities had closed educational institutions and suspended mobile Internet services in Sopore town after the encounter started in the morning.
He said that the identity of the slain terrorists is being established.
However, searches were still going on in the area, added the police official.
