Jaipur: An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG 27 aircraft crashed near Jodhpur in Rajasthan during a routine sortie on Tuesday, the Defence PRO said.

Both pilot and co-pilot ejected safely, said the defence PRO.
Acccording to information, the MiG 27 fighter jet after taking off from Jodhpur airbase, came down near Devriya village.
The defence PRO, Colonel Sombit Ghosh said that the pilots avoided dense residential colonies and the jet crashed on an open field.
He said that the timely decision of the pilots helped in averting a major accident that could have caused damage to civilian lives and property.
Thick smoke emanated from the spot where the fighter jet crashed, as villagers rushed to the site.
A Court of Inquiry will investigate the exact cause of the accident.
Both the pilots who ejected safely, were taken to a hospital in an air ambulance, added the official.
