Srinagar: At least four infiltrating terrorists from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district were killed by the Army in wee hours of Friday.

Defence sources said that alert soldiers noticed suspicious movement in the Boniyar forests of Uri sector on late Thursday evening. When the infiltrators were challenged, they resorted to indiscriminate firing, triggering a fierce encounter in which at least four terrorists were neutralised, said sources.
Later confirming the incident, defence spokesman said that counter-infiltration grid eliminated infiltration bid at Kasturi Naar area along LoC in Uri Sector of Baramulla district in wee hours of Friday.
He said the army personnel guarding LoC repulsed attempt of heavily armed group of terrorists in the area following a fierce gunfight that ensued between terrorists and the soldiers.
Till reports last came in, the operation continued in the area to track down any armed infiltrator who may have managed to sneak into the Indian side of the LoC.
However, there was no report of any loss of life on the part of security forces so far.
