Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists were killed on Monday in an ongoing encounter with the security forces in Shopian district.

According to a defence official, the encounter started around 6.30 m in the Khawajpora Reban village of Shopian.
Acting on a specific input about presence of some terrorists in the area, security forces comprising the Army, CRPF and the SOG of the J&K police cordoned off the area in wee houirs of Monday.
As the security forces zeroed on the house where the terrorists were holed up, the terrorists opened fire triggering a fierce gun-battle.
A police official said that in the exchange of fire two terrorists were killed and their bodies were recovered from the encounter site.
Large quantity of arms an ammunition was also recovered from the house where the terrorists were hiding, said the official.
He said that the identity and affiliation of the two neutralised terrorists was being carried out.
Though the firing has stopped, search operation continues in the area as the security forces think that there could be wo or three more terrorists hiding in the area.
“Weapons and warlike stores recovered. Operation in progress.” Army said in a brief statement.
