Srinagar: Three soldiers were martyred and a civilian killed when security forces were attacked on Thursday by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A senior police official said that the Army patrol party was returning from a search operation in Kungnoo village when they were ambushed by the terrorists in Chitargam village of Shopian district.
He said that the among the victims was a lieutenant colonel and a woman who was inside her house when a bullet hit her during the firing.
In this terrorists attack, seven soldiers including an Army major were also injured, said the police official adding that reinforcements were immediately rushed to surround the area and track the terrorists.
The injured have been airlifted to Srinagar for treatment where the condition of two soldiers is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, search and combing operations are underway to flush out the terrorists.
