Pakistan firing in J&K’s Nowshera sector, woman killed

Jammu: In an unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army, a 35-years-old woman was killed in on the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a defence official here on Thursday, Pakistan Army late on Wednesday around 10.40 pm resorted to shelling that hit a village in Laam belt of Nowshera sector, killing Akhtar Bi and injuring her husband Mohmmad Hanief (40).

Pakistan Army initiated the firing of small arms, automatics, 82 mm and 120 mm mortars along the Line of Control, said the defence official.

The Indian Army posts are retaliating strongly and effectively. The firing is presently on, he said.

The latest incident of ceasefire violation comes after the beheading of two Indian soldiers by Pakistan’s Border Action Team on May 1.
