Srinagar: Six intruding terrorists were killed on Saturday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district as the army foiled a fresh infiltration bid in the sector.

According to defence sources, a group of terrorists were challenged by the alert troops on the Indian side of the LoC in Rampur sector. “Though four of the intruding terrorists have been neutralised, the operation in the area is still on,” said an official.
It may be mentioned here that Rampur sector is adjacent to the Uri sector where the Army on Friday foiled an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) and killed two BAT men who were supposedly members of trained terrorists pushed into Indian soil by the enemy nation.
Meanwhile, following a night long siege, a fierce gunfight has started early on Saturday between trapped terrorists and the security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior police official said that at least three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including one of its commander, Sabzar Bhat are believed to be trapped inside a house in Saimoh village in Tral town of the district.
Prior to the security forces having cordoned off the area where the terrorists were hiding, a patrol party of Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles on Friday evening was fired at by terrorists in Tral.
Although no casualty or injury was reported in the said attack by the terrorists, the security forces cordoned off the area where the terrorists after fleeing, had been hiding in a house, said the police official adding that the number of terrorists trapped is between three to five.
