New Delhi: Continuing its probe into terror funding by Pakistan-based groups to stoke unrest in the Kashmir Valley, the NIA on Sunday conducted fresh raids across six locations in Jammu and Kashmir and seized incriminating documents and foreign currency.

“NIA took up fresh searches at five more locations belonging to secessionist and separatist elements and traders suspected of hawala activities and terror funding,” the agency said.
Searches were counteracted in five locations in Kashmir Valley and one in Jammu region.
“During the searches, Pakistani currency (a few thousand) and currencies belonging to the UAE and Saudi Arabia have been found and seized apart from other incriminating material. The concerned persons are being questioned,” it added.
According to reports, Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s close aide Azaz Akbar and Gazi Baba’s houses were raided early morning today.
The raids follow days after NIA converted a preliminary enquiry into the terror funding, allegedly involving Hurriyat leaders, into a regular case
Prominent among those who were raided by the NIA on Saturday were Hurriyat Conference (G) leader, Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Altaf Funtoosh at Qamarwari, Salvation Movement chairman Zaffar Akbar Bhat at Bagh-e-Mehtab, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) senior leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal at Nowgam, National Front (NF) chairman Nayeem Khan at Ibrahim Colony Natipora, JKLF (R) leader Farooq Dar alias Bitta Karatay at Guru Bazar Shaheed Gunj and Hurriyat (M) Media Advisor Shahid-ul-Islam at Sanat Nagar.
The businessmen whose houses were raided include Zahoor Ahmad Watali at Barzullah, Raja Zahoor Khan at Hyderpora, Muhammad Sultan Tangnuu at Azad Basti Natipora, Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir Gas at Shamsabad Batamaloo, Farooq Ahmad Wani at
Shamsabad Batamaloo, Muhammad Sultan Chandu at Natipora and Retired Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat at Sheikhul Aalam Colony Nowgam.
