New Delhi: After evading arrest for over a month, former Calcutta high court judge CS Karnan was on Tuesday arrested from Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore.

According to an official, after being arrested, justice Karnan was taken to Chennai.
Sixty-two-year-old Justice Karnan has been evading arrest since May 9 after being sentenced to six months imprisonment for contempt of court by the Supreme Court.
West Bengal police got a whiff on Sunday that, justice Karnan was hiding somewhere near Coimbatore and there after they traced him to be hiding in suburb of the district in an independent house at Machegoundan Palayam.
It may be mentioned here that justice Karnan has the dubious distinction of being the first sitting high court judge to be awarded a jail term by the Supreme Court.
