Srinagar: Security forces on Monday gunned down two terrorists who had attacked a police party in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to a senior police official, the encounter between the terrorists and the security forces started after the terrorists attacked a police patrol in Rajwar area of Kupwara district.
“Immediately after the attack on the police patrol, the security forces swung into action and cordon off the area,” said the police official.
The police official further said that once the “encounter” started, additional reinforcements were rushed to the spot. “Though the encounter is on, two terrorists have already been neutralised and a few more are believed to have been still hiding in the area,” said the police official.
Till reports last came in, the encounter was on.
Meanwhile, a policeman is reported to have sustained injuries in the encounter and has been shifted to a hospital where his condition is stable.
