Three Pakistani terrorists killed in ongoing J&K’s Kupwara encounter

Srinagar: Three terrorists were killed in a fierce gunbattle that broke out on Monday morning between security forces and terrorists in north Kashmir’s Unsoo village of Handwara in Kupwara district.

A senior police official said that the security forces have succeeded in killing three terrorists, all believed to be Pakistani nationals, in the the encounter which still continues in the area.

According to information, acting on specific information about the presence of some terrorists in Unsoo village, the security forces surrounded the village.

As the security forces started closing in on the terrorists hide out, the terrorists fired upon triggering the encounter.

The police official said that in the ongoing encounter, a third terrorist was apprehended in injured condition but he succumbed to his injuries.

“The operation is still going on,” said the police official who added that there could be at least two more terrorists hiding in the area.

As per unconfirmed reports, a local female was also injured in the crossfire.

Meanwhile, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army was been injured in Pakistan firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

The incident occurred when the Pakistani Army violated ceasefire in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening, a police officer said.

The injured was shifted to hospital, he added.
