Srinagar: Alert security forces on Monday foiled two infiltration attempts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla district and in the process killed five terrorists.
A senior defence official said that the army foiled an infiltration bid from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Rampur sector in Baramulla district and Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district.
He said that from the five terrorists gunned down by the army, weapons and ammunition were recovered.
The defence official said that when the Army personnel noticed some suspicious movement along the LoC, the intruders were challenged and the subsequent exchange of fire the terrorists were neutralised at both the places.
Till last reports came in, search operation is still going on in the area, added the official.
