Srinagar: One person was killed and 10 other civilians were injured in a clash between a stone-pelting mob and security forces in Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to sources in the police, the clashes broke out in the evening in Ganowpora village of Shopian when security forces cordoned off the village after specific inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area.
“Ten protesters were injured in clashes when they resorted to heavy stone pelting at the security forces to obstruct the operation against hiding terrorists.
Police sources said that one of the injured youth identified as Adil Farooq Magrey was taken to Shopian district hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to restore order as the clashes intensified following the death of the youth.
