Srinagar: Alert troops at the Line of Control in Naugam sector of Kupwara district thwarted an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT), killing to Pakistani Army soldiers in wee hours of Monday.

Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) attempted to target the forward post with the intruders moving under the cover of thick jungles

According to defence sources, Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) attempted to target the forward post with the intruders moving under the cover of thick jungles in the area and heavy firing from the Pakistani posts as cover fire using high calibre weapons.

However, the alert Indian Army spotted the intruders wearing combat dresses like Pakistani regulars. They all were carrying stores with Pakistani markings. “Some of the intruders were also seen in BSF and old pattern Indian Army dresses,” said an official.

The recovery made from the neutralised intruders clearly indicates that they intended to carry out a major attack on the Indian Army.

Defence sources also said that a post-operation search was launched early on Monday morning during which bodies of two Pakistan soldiers were recovered along with large cache of warlike stores.

“Some of the BAT members managed to retreat under heavy cover firing from the Pakistani posts,” said sources who added that the Indian Army would request the Pakistan Army to take back the mortal remains of the neutralised BAT intruders.

It may be mentioned here that the BAT has been active in not just targeting Indian posts but extending support to terrorists from terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
