New Delhi: NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind filed his nomination for the July 17 election here on Friday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states.

Accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his trip to Parliament House to file his papers, several senior BJP leaders including LK Advani and MM Joshi, chief ministers of NDA-ruled states and senior leaders of other parties supporting his candidature were also there.
Apart from chief ministers of NDA ruled states, there were CMs of non-NDA ruled states as well to express their solidarity with the candidature of Kovid. This included K Chandrashekhar Rao and E Palanisamy.
The Shiv Sena, the Janata Dal (U) and all factions of the AIADMK, including O Panneerselvam and TTV Dinakaran, have all backed Kovind’s candidature for the post of President.
As many as 48.9 percent of votes Kovind is expected to get will be from the NDA and the support of several non-NDA regional parties is seen as increasing that number to more than 63 percent.
