New Delhi: The NIA and UP’s anti-terror squad (ATS) on Wednesday carried out searches at 16 locations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in connection with a new Islamic State module ‘Harkat-ul-Harb-e-Islam’ and arrested five persons from Amroha in UP, including one said to be the leader of the group.

IG, UP ATS Asim Arun confirmed that five people linked to a terror group have been arrested. He said one person has been arrested from a madrasa in Amroha while four others were arrested from other places.
At least 10 other people are reported to have been detained for questioning by the NIA and the UP ATS.
The searches started at different location including Delhi’s Seelampur area and were still underway, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) official said.
Meanwhile, in east Delhi’s Jafarabad area the NIA carried out searches with the Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
