Srinagar: At least two terrorists were killed and a soldier martyred in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Tuesday morning.

For the second consecutive day, the security forces engaged in a gunfight with terrorists in Anantnag.
According to a police official, the terrorists, reportedly, belong to Pakistan based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were engaged a fierce encounter with the security forces on Tuesday morning in which JeM commander Sajad Bhat, the owner of the vehicle which was used on February 14 CRPF attack at Awantipora was killed.
The police official said that the slain terrorist was also the owner of the vehicle used for the IED attack on Monday in Pulwama.
“Sajad Ahmad Bhat alias Afzal Guru had joined militancy days before the Pulwama terror attack. He belonged to Marhama village in Anantnag,” police sources said.
The police official said that the encounter took place at Marhama Sangam village near Bijbihara town of Anantnag.
Police sources said that 2-3 terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
The operation was launched on credible input by 33 Rashtriya Rifles, state Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) before dawn in the area and till reports last came in, the operation was underway.
