Suspected JeM terrorists abduct two Bakarwals from Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral, kill one

Srinagar: A person belonging to the Bakarwal community was killed after he was abducted by suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources in the police said that the unidentified JeM terrorists had abducted two people on the intervening night of August 19-20. While one of the abducted person was killed whereas the other person is still missing. The body of the person killed on Monday was found in the forest area during the search operation by the security forces.

According to reports, the abduction took place in north Tral town near the Mansar Bhaik area in the mountains of the district. One of the abducted person was from Lachitop Behak and another from Mansar Behak. Both were from the nomadic Bakarwal community and were abducted from Nagbehren forests.

The police official said that the search operation for the missing person was on.

It may be mentioned here that this is the first terrorist attack in the Valley by the terrorists after the abrogation of Article 370.

In a different incident in Delina Chowk area, security agencies arrested a terrorists in Baramulla district of of North Kashmir during a checking operation even as heavy shelling took place at two locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch.

A police official said that one terrorists was nabbed on Monday from a joint check post of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police at Delina Chowk, which came under sudden fire from a truck. An AK-47 and a pistol were recovered from the nabbed terrorist, said the official adding that the accomplice of the nabbed terrorist managed to escape.

An Army official said the second terrorist had entered a nearby ‘mohalla’ and operations were still underway to nab or neutralise him.

On the other hand, Pakistan has resorted to increased ceasefire violations along the LoC after a lull in the first two weeks of August.

Two ceasefire violations were reported along the LoC in Poonch district on Monday. Indian Army retaliated to the violations though there were no reports of injuries or casualties.
