Top LeT terrorists Basheer Lashkari trapped, encounter on in Anatnag

Srinagar: A fierce encounter is on between security forces and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists including its top Commander Basheer Lashkari in Anatnag district from early Saturday morning.

He said that a 44-year-old civilian woman was wounded in the cross-firing

On receiving a specific tip off about presence of four to five terrorists in Dailgam area of the district, the security forces comprising the Army, CRPF and the SOG of the state police cordoned off the area and launched a search operations.

A senior police official said that top LeT terrorist, Bashir Lashkari, who was responsible for an ambush in Achabal area in which six policemen including a Station House Officer (SHO) were killed last month, were exchanged in a fierce gun-battle with the security forces.

He said that a 44-year-old civilian woman was wounded in the cross-firing. She was rushed to the district hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, said the police official.

The holed-up terrorists are using human shields at the encounter site but efforts are on to rescue the civilians, said the police official.
