Two LeT terrorists killed in ongoing encounter in J&K’s Ganderbal

Srinagar: In a fierce encounter in South Ganderbal district, the security forces gunned down two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists on Tuesday.

Two of the hiding terrorists were neutralised

A senior police official said that the security forces comprising Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Army laid a cordon and search operation at around 9 pm on Monday after receiving a tip-off about presence of some terrorists in Gund area of Ganderbal district.

“As the security cordon tightened, the hiding terrorists resorted to indiscriminate firing in wee hours on Tuesday to break the security cordon and escape but in the retaliatory fire by the security forces, two of the hiding terrorists were neutralised,” said the police official.

He further said that till reports last came in, encounter with the terrorists was on as two to three terrorists are still believed to be hiding in the area.

The bodies of the slain terrorists are yet to be received. However, it has been confirmed that the terrorists engaged in the encounter were affiliated to Pakistan based terror outfit LeT.
