Two top Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists killed in J&K’s Shopian encounter
Srinagar: It was a major success for the security forces when two top Jais-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were gunned down in a brief but fierce encounter in South Kahsmir’s Shopian district on Saturday. One of the neutralised terrorist is a Pakistani IED expert.
According to a senior police official, on receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Bonbazar area of Shopian town, a cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces comprising Army’s 23 Para and SOG Shopian early in the morning.
He said that as the cordon around the hiding terrorists tightened, they resorted to firing at the security forces triggering an encounter in which two terrorists were killed.
Later the identity of the slain terrorists was revealed. One of the neutralised terrorists is Pakistani IED expert Munna Lahori and second is a local operative Zeenat Ul Islam. Lahori was the mastermind of the IED blast in Pulwama’s Arihal village in June. Both the terrorists were affiliates of Pakistan based terroris outfit JeM which is headed by United Nation’s designated global terrorists Maulana Masood Azhar.
